Fujin speedride mini tandem

First ever Fujin tandem on skies

βœ… – Professional tandem pilot, speedflier, paragliding instructor @oleksii.sky enjoyed flying Fujin with passenger.

βœ… – Even though take off was at ~3000 meters (lower density of the air – need more speed to get airborn than at sea level) Fujin surprised pilots with it’s speed range.

βœ… – Super easy inflation and control – very helpful when in tandem setup and on skies.

βœ… – Glide of loaded 25 m2 wing was a concern only before the first flight.
Theoreticaly, glide ratio should not change with wing loading, but we know that practicaly it changes (as paraglider if a flexible construction). 30 seconds after take off it was clear that glide is more than suffucient, and there is an altitude to play😈.

βœ… – Wing overs, tight turnes, dives, touch downs, and even spiral dive. Fujin delivered a ton of emotions to the pilot that is harly possible to get from driving full size tadem (bus).

βœ… – Landing 25 m2 wing with ~180 KG take-off weight in 0 wind is a challenge.
And professional tandem pilot @oleksii.sky easily completed it.

βœ…- Point to consider is glide, on approach you have more speed than on full size tandem and still a good glide. Fujin has great energy conversion that allows long swoops, but swoop area should be planned accordingly.

βœ…- speedriging rule – you don’t fly a glider on skies that you are not able to land on ski boots (in case ski detached for some reason) also cosidered. Experienced pilot is able to swoop loaded Fujin to the speed of safe ski boots landing.

Conclusion

Fujin designed for coast soaring appears to be a great tool as paraski/ speedride mini tandem.

βœ… – Fujin is helpful when stronger wind at take off altitude. Way safer to fly 25/ 29 m2 tandem than full size.

βœ… – Consider Fujin for lightweight passenger (kids) flight in moderate wind at take off. Way safer to fly 25/ 29 m2 tandem than full size.
